Musée Pasteur

Musée Pasteur
Musée Pasteur (25-28 rue du Docteur Roux, Paris)(Metro Pasteur) — this is a French non-profit private foundation that is dedicated to the study of biology, micro-organisms, diseases and vaccines and as you can no doubt guess, was named after Louis Pasteur, who was its founder and first director. Pasteur was the scientist that discovered pasteurization and the techniques needed in which to destroy bacteria in certain types of foods. Over the years, the Institut Pasteur (where the Musée Pasteur is housed) has been responsible for numerous breakthrough discoveries, which have actually enabled medical science to control diseases such as diphtheria, tetanus, tuberculosis and the plague. A tour of this museum takes you through Pasteur’s private rooms, with odds and ends including gifts given to him by heads of state, and sketches he made during his younger years. Admission: €7.00 (adults), €3.00 (students). Open Monday through Friday from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm (closed on Saturdays & Sundays).
